Intimate Portland, Oregon Wedding at Washington Park
It’s June 2021 and these two New England Wedding photographers find ourselves in Oregon for a dream intimate wedding. What a treat! Like everyone else in the wedding industry, our business was significantly impacted by the pandemic. 2020 was shaping up to be a year full of weddings and elopements – our most successful year yet since starting our photography business. It was anything but and towards the end of the year we were quite unsure what 2021 would bring.
K+M were originally set to wed in our favorite New England state of Vermont. It’s always so exciting to be out in the Green Mountain State. Lucky for us, this job is always taking us there. We were excited that we were going to be in Woodstock for their wedding day and capture them, their families and friends at The Farmhouse Inn.
Fortunately or unfortunately (I like to think fortunately) the changes of 2020 brought a cross country move for K+M. Portland, Oregon to be exact. And guess what? Determined to make June 2021 work for them, they pivoted to an intimate backyard wedding in their Portland home and we were lucky enough to be there to capture it.
They decided to have their ceremony at the beautiful Washington Park. Known as Portland’s “signature park”, this location offers beautiful gardens (like the famous Rose Garden you see in some of their portraits below), a zoo, wilderness and even views of Mt. Hood, we kid you not!
K+M decided to have their first look and ceremony at the Secret Garden, a peaceful and quiet spot with lots of great energy to match their beautiful personalities. One of their close friends officiated the wedding – it’s always so wonderful when a close friend officiates. You end up learning so much about your couples that way!
At the end of the ceremony we all took a shuttle to their home for a beautiful night of dinner (catered by the amazing White Pepper), dancing and fun. The rain that came just in time for dancing to start did not keep them from having a great time on the dance floor. Check out the photos below and see for yourself!
K+M, we are so honored that you chose us to capture your day. Congrats on your wedding and we wish you a lifetime of happiness!
