Connecticut Rustic Wedding at Nuzzo’s Farm
As New England Wedding photographers, we’re always down for traveling to as many of our six amazing states as possible during wedding season. Needless to say, we were pumped when K&D chose us to be their wedding photographers.
This beautiful Rhode Island couple had originally planned to wed at the Rotunda Ballroom. But as fate would have it, a change of plans (due to a pandemic) was necessary. With a date change, they found themselves having to choose another venue. I think it was meant to be, because wow - what a beautiful day we had at Nuzzo’s Farm in Connecticut. This little family-owned and operated gem in Branford is so much fun! It’s super spacious, with a farm feel to it.
Nuzzo’s has a beautiful getting ready space, which our bride used for getting ready along with her wedding party. The guys arrived a bit later and we were able to do some fun photos with them, including a toast! Our couple chose to have a first look, which is always a fun activity to incorporate into your wedding day.
Interested in understanding what the photography timeline with a first look can be like? Here’s how their day unfolded:
We arrived at 1 pm. Typically when we arrive at the venue, we like to take the first 15 mins or so to walk around and look for that perfect portrait spot location. Once we do that, we’ll enter the getting ready suite for details and getting ready photos. For detail photos, we always ask our couples to set aside all those deets they want to be photographed (think flatlays)! Details usually include:
- Wedding invitation
- Wedding attire
- Jewelry, shoes
- Flowers
- Rings
Once details photos wrap, we’ll start getting ready photos. Getting ready coverage can typically take 1 hour to 1.5 hours - depending on whether you’re exchanging gifts or doing fun toasts. If you’re getting ready in the same venue, we’ll usually travel between suites to cover you both.
Once getting ready is complete, we’ll do the first look. First looks are typically quick and straightforward. Right after the first look, we did family and wedding party photos. Here’s what the remaining timeline for the day looked like for K&D:
- 3:30 pm: The couple gets tucked away and guests start to arrive
- 4:00 pm: Ceremony
- 4:30 pm: Cocktail hour (with all photos taken care of after the first look, the couple can enjoy all of their cocktail hour
- 5:30 pm: Reception: Introductions, first dance, dinner, speeches, parent dances, open floor dancing
- 7:30/7:45 pm: Sneak out for Golden Hour portraits
- 9 pm: Photography wraps up
There you have it! Now you know what a typical New England Wedding photography timeline looks like. Let’s check the photos, shall we? Scroll below to see how K&D’s beautiful day unfolded!
