An Intimate Backyard Wedding in the Berkshires
Kayla and Shannon are two of the kindest people we’ve had the chance to meet over the last couple of years. They first reached out to us in early 2019 about their plans to get married at the Boylston Rooms in June of 2020. We met them in person at the time and got to know a little bit about their story.
They’ve been together since high school and having known them now for a while, their love for each other is inspiring. They’re fun, super laid back and caring. Their pup, Casper, is a huge part of their lives, and of course, had his wedding debut on their big day.
As with most weddings this year, Kayla and Shannon had to make changes and downsize their guest list. However, they were committed to marry this year and so a backyard wedding was the best option for them.
With only a handful of their closest family members and friends, they married in Shannon’s childhood home in the Massachusetts Berkshires. What a beautiful DIY wedding it was! From the signs, to the florals, to the food – everything was done by them. And the beautiful mountainous backdrop didn’t hurt either. We had stunning views for their golden hour portraits.
Big weddings are wonderful and so much fun, but there’s something to be said about the intimacy of backyard weddings. While it’s stressful to have to change plans, it’s also so wonderful to spend your day with the people who matter most. Because you’re at home, hopefully you’ll feel more relaxed too.
See the images below and judge it for yourself. We might be biased, but intimate weddings have become our favorite kind of wedding!
